Some of My Beauty Favourites

In the past I have always done monthly favourites posts, but I think I will quit doing those, and I'll replace them with current favourites.
I don't alwyas buy new products every single month, most of the time I would stick to the ones I already own, and I would purchase new ones any now and then, just to tick off something from my beauty wishlist, so writing a post about my favourites every three or four months definitely makes more sense to me.
This is the first one, so here are some of the things I've been currently loving.

Too Faced Chocolate Melted Lipstick. One thing I love about Too Faced are the names of their products, because they are always so on point, but other than that, what makes me love this brand is the scent of chocolate you can smell while applying some of their makeup.
I know that is not something everyone would like, but being so fond of chocolate, I could not ask for better, and believe me, when you apply this lisptick, it almost feels like you're putting melted chocolate on your lips.
Now, onto the main feautures of the lipstick.
First of I got mine in the shade Chocolate Honey, I was actually looking for a browny nude, since all the nudes I have veer on a mauvy-rose tone, and this one responded perfectly to my needs.
The pigmentation is great, and though they do not claim to be matte, the effect on the lips is definitely opaque, also, the lasting is really good, I would say, on me it lasts about 3 to 4 hours, and then it starts to fade a bit.
The only down side is that it is a bit a drying, so I would not recommend it if you already have chopped lips, because this lipstick will enphasize that dryness.

Hourglass Mood Exposure Blush. Yes I accidentally drop it, and yes it felt apart. It is definitely safe to say that these blushes are quite fragile, so be careful when handling them.
However, this is probably one of the best blushes I have ever tried, it does give a good natural, healthy looking glow, and to me it almost functions as an highlighter, because it contains luminous specks, that make the cheek area stand out a lot.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow. This is quite expensive but worth all the money spent.
I think this bronzer is probably the best you could ever ask for.
It is a perfect inbetween, because it is cold enough, to allow a good contouring, and warm enough to bronze up the skin, and give it a nice healthy glow.
The highlither is fine, it is quite pigmented too, but to me the main focus of this palette is the bronzer.

Makeup Geek Eyeshadows. I've just recently discovered this brand, but I already love it.
First thing I want to point out about this brand is that they don't test their products on animals, which is a great thing, and I think every company should follow this path.
However, you'll be blown away by the quality of these shadows, they're not too expensive, each pan costs around $6 for the regular shadows, and $9 for the foiled ones, which are more pigmented and intense, but they definitely feel like high end, and in my opinion they're even better than Mac ones.
My favourites are Grandstand, which is a foiled shadow, and I would say it is a metallic silvery rose gold, and peach smoothie, which is a matte peachy shade, perfect for the crease.

Givenchy Dahlia EDT. This is probably the perfume of my life. I am quite picky when it comes to perfumes, and after sniffing pretty much all the ones on the market at the moment, I found the one.
I find it really hard to describe fragrances but I'll attempt to do it.
I think it is really sophisticated, it's both floral and fruity, with hints of blood orange and peach, and jasmine and roses, so it is quite a fresh scent, but it also has some sweetness, and a more spicier side, given by sandalwood, vanilla and musk.
I'm sure you're probably wondering how this could have a good fragrance with all this different scents combined but I promise you it does, and it also lasts long on my skin.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer. This is quite an orangy bronzer, that's why I don't really like to wear it just on its own, but I always use it on top of some other colder toned bronzers, so that I can contour my face with a cooler one, like the Charlotte Tilbury, and then with this Hourglass one I can bronze up the skin, adding a natural sunkissed glow.

I waited till I would completely recover to relaunch my blog, so that I could decicate fully to it, and then I happend to get sick again, so right now I am here, writing again on my blog after more than a week from my last post.
Except that, today I wanted to come back with a new series here on the blog.
We all know mondays are not that pleasing, I mean after relaxing during the week ends, it is always hard to start a brand new week, and get back to work, or to school.
To make this dreadful day a bit more enjoyble, I think we should focus on the positive things, so in this kind of posts I want to write about my highlights of the past days,  just as a remainder that mondays are not that bad, and that they're just the beginning of a week that will bring loads of delightful things, and I would love if you'd share yours with me too!

I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It. This is the endless name The 1975 gave to their new album, they never stop to amaze.
If you're a The 1975 fan you know how long the awaiting for some new music has been, since they released their debut album in 2013.
Long awaiting and high expectations, they did not disappoint.
The sound is different from the previous album, there are so many different influences in the new one, but their style is distinguishable in each song, with unaspected melodies, great instrumental bits, and witty lyrics.
My favourite song has to be Nana, he dedicated it to his Grandma, and whenever I listen to it, for me it is inevitable to think of mine.

Sushi date with my mom. I think the last time I went eating sushi was more than two months ago, so it was about time for me to go out and eat some.
Last sunday me and my mom where home alone, and since nor my dad  nor my brother like sushi, we thought, what better occasion to go to our favourite japanese restaurant.
We had the best time, I love spending time with my mummy, we chatted a lot, we had fun, and most of all, we had some really delicious food.

Mom jeans. It seems stupid to put the purchase of a pair (actually two) of mom jeans into the higlights of the past few days, but to me it really was.
I honestly could not resist the charm of this style of jeans, and after thoughts and thoughts about whether buying them or not, and convincing myself I would have never looked good in those jeans, I thought, who cares, I'm just going to buy them.
I liked them so much that I bought not one pair, but two, and I did not stop wearing them since I got them, they're like a second skin now.

Reunited with my best friend. It's crazy, I know, but I had not seen my best friend since New Year's Eve, almost three months ago.
We have both been really busy with classes and exams at uni that we did not have the chance to see each other since then, we basically just talked through texts.
Last week we met, and it was exciting, we hugged, and we talked a lot, I mean we had three months worth of stuff to tell each other.

Recovered from the flu. I said it multiple times in the past few weeks, and then I always got back sick, but I'm confident this time is for real.
I think the main reason that caused my flu was my diet, I was not eating in the best way, but now I've started eating really healthy again, so the problem should be fixed. Finger crossed.

I think I've rambled enough for today's post, hope you enjoyed reading it, and don't forget to let me know some of the highlights of your past week.

Blueberry Muffins with Crumbs Topping

My first actual post had to be about food.
I love food in general, but sweets are my favourites, and that's probably why, in the past year, I've got always more and more into baking, and I have a day, in the week, where I would bake something for me and my family, so that we can have some delicious treats for our breakfasts.
So, what's better to have for brakfast, than Blueberry muffins?
Well, that, at least, is my ideal breakfast, so today I am sharing with you how I make my own, and these have a little twist to the regular muffins, because they're topped with crumbs.
Also if you're interested, in a forthcoming post, I could share with you my recipe for a vegan version of these muffins, and believe me, they taste just as good.

For the muffins
1 1/2 cup of flour
3/4 cup of caster sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1/3 cup of vegetable oil (or any you prefer)
1 egg
1/3 cup of milk
1 cup of blueberries

For the crumbs topping
1/3 cup of flour
1/4 cup of butter

1/2 cup of caster sugar

Preheat your oven at 200 degrees C.
Mix together all the dry ingredients, flour, sugar, salt and baking powder, and set aside.
Now mix all the wet ones, vegetable oil, egg, and milk, and once they're well combined pour them into the wet ingredients.
Stir till everything is well incorporated.
Add the blueberries and mix some more, (be careful here otherwise the berries will break).
For the crumbs mix togheter the butter, sugar and flour.
Line a muffin tin with some muffin cases or spray the tin with non-stick spray.
Pour the batter into each case till the edge, and then add the crumbs on top.
Pop them in the oven and bake them for 20 to 25 minutes, and voilĂ , they're ready to enjoy.

I can promise you with these muffins your breakfasts will be tastier than ever, and they'll help you start your day in the right way!

I Am Back + New Beginning

It's been quite a while since I last wrote a few words here on my blog, it feels weird, I kind of need to get used to it again, but I am really happy to be back.

January and February have been real though months, exams occupied the majority of my days, it got to the point where I would stop studying just to workout for a couple of hours and to eat.
Other than that I got sick a couple of times, and to be honest I was lacking of ideas and inspirations for my blog, I've gone through a phase where I had a total block, I did not know what to write, and even if I did, I did not like how I wrote it, so I was just not enjoying blogging anymore, and instead of putting up content I was not proud of, I decided to take a little break.
Well, the break is finally over, I feel like all the love I had for blogging has finally come back, I have so many ideas, and I can't wait to work on them, so get prepared for a lot of posts.
Also as you can tell, (if you were already following my blog), or if you're new to it, I made some little changes.
First I decided to change the name of my blog, because I actually did not really like "Notes Of Glam" from the start, (that was the only one that I could think of), and it did not represent me, or my blog, so now I changed it into "With love, Vanessa", and I really dig it.
Also I deleted all my previous posts, I am a perfectionist, and I want my blog to be perfect, or at least as close as it can get to what I consider perfect, and honestly I was not proud of my previous posts, because of the pictures, of the writing, so I just decided to start brand new.
Lastly, I changed the theme of my blog, (again).
Not that I did not like my previous one, but since I had already made all those changes, I thought, why not changing the theme too, so I got a really minimal one, which suits my style quite well.

Think I've rambled enough for today's post, I am really happy to be back working on my blog, and I'll work hard to create content you'll enjoy reading.
